Arrest Made in Jammu and Kashmir Bus Attack on Pilgrims

A key arrest has been made in the deadly attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district. A young man named Hakam was apprehended by police in Rajouri, ten days after the attack on June 9th. While not directly accused of firing on the bus, Hakam is alleged to have played a crucial role in facilitating the attack. Police claim he provided the militants with shelter, food, and vital information about the pilgrims' travel route. This information is believed to have helped the militants target the bus.

The attack itself was horrific. The militants opened fire on the bus carrying pilgrims to the Vaishno Devi temple, causing the driver to lose control and veer off the road. Witnesses reported relentless gunfire for 15-20 minutes, with the attackers seemingly intent on killing everyone onboard. Sadly, 10 people died in the attack, with many others injured. The victims were mainly from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi. This arrest marks a significant development in the investigation. Police have already questioned 50 individuals, and Hakam's information may lead them to the militants' hideout.

The attack has heightened security concerns, especially with the upcoming Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage starting later this month. The government, under Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, has vowed to take strong action against terrorism and ensure the safety of pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir.
