Kangana Ranaut's 'Emergency' Cleared by Censor Board Amid Legal Controversy

Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film Emergency has been surrounded by controversy ever since its promotional sneak peeks were released. The film, which portrays Kangana as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, faced legal hurdles, with accusations that it hurt Sikh sentiments. The Shiromani Akali Dal even raised objections, leading to threats directed at the actress. Initially scheduled for release on September 6, the film’s release was delayed after a court-imposed moratorium.

The legal dispute between the producers and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) extended to the court, with Kangana accusing the Censor Board of unnecessarily delaying the clearance of her film. Earlier, the court instructed the CBFC to make a decision regarding the film’s certification by September 25. While the CBFC’s lawyer, Abhinav Chandrachud, stated that the film could be cleared, he indicated that some scenes might need to be cut.

On Thursday, Kangana shared an update on social media, announcing that Emergency had finally been cleared by the Censor Board. In her Instagram story, she thanked fans for their patience, stating that the release date would be announced soon. However, it remains unclear whether the film received approval without any changes or if certain scenes had to be modified. Despite the uncertainty, Kangana’s fans were relieved to hear that the film would finally make its way to theaters soon.
