Instead, sources say he could return to his childhood club, Newell’s Old Boys, in Argentina.
While this move might not happen immediately, there is speculation that Messi could return to Newell’s by December 2025. In a 2016 interview, Messi expressed his desire to play for Newell’s again, saying, "If I were to go back to Argentina, I would want to play for Newell’s."
