IPL Mega Auction Likely to be Held in November, Possibly in London

The much-anticipated IPL mega auction is expected to take place in the second half of November, with reports suggesting it will be held on foreign soil. According to a cricket website, this year’s auction might not be held in India. Instead, London is emerging as the leading venue, although the decision is still in the planning stages.

Last year, the IPL mini-auction was hosted in Dubai. While Dubai was considered again for this year's mega auction, London appears to be the front-runner. If all goes well, the auction will be finalized by the end of November. Franchise teams are concerned, as the BCCI has yet to announce the retention rules for the upcoming season. There is ongoing debate about how many players each team can retain, and issues like the Right to Match (RTM) cards remain unresolved.

Several meetings between team representatives and the BCCI have already taken place, but no final decisions have been made. Sources suggest the retention rules will be revealed by the end of this month, giving franchises around two months to finalize their plans. Teams are expected to submit their final retention lists by November 15, with the auction date likely set for shortly after that.
